I remember my family
Even though I'm English
I remember the English owned farms
where my family was born
The English owned mines
where my great grandfathers were born

I remember my family
Even though I'm English
where I'm born though I don't own
and don't believe I owe
life for life taken

I remember the days
today yesterday next Friday
I remember the weeks and live out the years
In England
fully aware of a world in which I'm afraid and unafraid
in which I'm armless
coinless
and worn thin on hope
for a universal realisation
England is just another part of the world
